How to transcribe a file for free (no sign-up)

Need a quick transcript without creating an account? Our free online transcription tool turns an audio or video file into text right in your browser — no sign-up, nothing to install. It even labels who said what when more than one person is speaking.

Steps

1. Open the free transcription tool. Go to audioscribe.io/audio-to-text, or pick the page that matches your file — there are dedicated pages for MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4, MOV, voice memos, phone calls, and more.
2. Add your file. Drag and drop it onto the upload box, or click Drop a file here, or click to upload and choose it. Supported types include MP3, M4A, MP4, WAV, MOV, WebM, AAC, and FLAC (up to 5 minutes and 100 MB, free).
3. Wait a few seconds. Your file is transcribed automatically — most short recordings finish in under a minute. You'll see a "Transcribing…" message while it works.
4. Read your transcript. It appears right on the page. When there's more than one voice, each turn is labeled (Speaker A, Speaker B, …), and you'll see the detected language and word count.
5. Copy or download it. Click Copy text to copy the whole transcript, or download it as .txt, .pdf, or .doc. (Those buttons belong to this free tool. In the AudioScribe web app, use Export on the conversation instead — see how to export or copy a transcript.)
